5 reasons to choose the Carpathians, not the sea, for a holiday in Ukraine

Recently, more and more tourists choose to rest in Ukraine. And here the main directions of vacationers remain two - to the sea and to the mountains. And although more tourists still choose the sea destination, which is always overloaded during the holiday season, we will try to compare both options and find the advantages of just relaxing in the main mountains of Ukraine. 1. There are still many atavisms of the so-called "Soviet service" in seaside resorts. And, relatively speaking, they are used to taking money there already for the sea and the sun, too often without even thinking about upgrading the service or simply hoping that the sea will justify everything. While the tourist centers in the Carpathian region, feeling the competition of the sea, and also being on the very border with European countries, show a tendency to constantly improve conditions for vacationers, build new hotels or even  cottage centers .

2. Most of the tourist bases and hotels in the Carpathians today are equipped with swimming pools, not to mention medical and health establishments, where these pools are part of the health infrastructure. Therefore, it is now possible to swim and swim, sunbathe in sun loungers in the Carpathians. Not to mention the Carpathian lakes. And besides, there are mountains and forests nearby.

3. The Carpathian region of Western Ukraine is also ancient architecture from the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and older - many castles, ancient temples, almost every region has, if not an ancient defensive wall, tower, church, fortress, then at least their picturesque ruins . On the sea coast of Ukraine, this is much less common. In addition, the old Austrian buildings (most often - secession) have been preserved in Western Ukrainian cities mostly as a complex, and not as separate buildings. Here, their competitor among the coastal cities may be only Odessa.

4. During holidays, during peak months of rest, it is much more difficult to get tickets, and even more so to get to the sea than to the West of Ukraine: tickets will most likely have to be taken almost a month in advance, and get with several transfers, on the third shelf of common cars , drenched in thirty sweats in hot trains or crowded buses. On Carpathian flights, of course, the load also increases with the beginning of the holiday season, but still it is not yet comparable with the sea direction.

5. The range of offers of forms of accommodation and its cost on vacation in the Carpathians is much wider than on our seas. In the Carpathians, you can stay both in expensive hotels and in cheaper camp sites; both in separate economy class huts without special amenities, and in individual  cottage houses with swimming pools and with all the benefits; as savages in tents, and in specially equipped campsites; how a “green tourist” can settle down “in a hut” with the local autochthonous population – Hutsuls, Boykos, Lemkos, etc. – and study their way of life and traditions, as well as in ultra-modern hotels or comfortable, but cheap hostels. At what prices here you can pick up for any wallet, while by the sea, as a rule, it is the extreme indicators of the spectrum that are most widely represented: by the savage, by locals in an apartment, in old Soviet hotels - or in very expensive hotels and recreation centers. The middle is poorly represented. Like the price/service ratio

This incomplete list is by no means intended to discourage tourists from traveling to the sea - and it is unlikely that anyone can succeed. Its purpose is to emphasize the benefits of Carpathian recreation. And, of course, in this comparison, those shortcomings that are mentioned above are manifested.

A modern tourist already has experience of visiting and living in foreign tourist cities, he is already familiar with the service of different countries, he can compare. And it is very important that the comparison be advantageous, otherwise only the sea or the mountains will not lure the tourist, who, as you know, votes with his feet.
